Welcome to Oak & Fiber
Hi!!
First let me say thank you! Thank you for finding me, being here, and taking the time to check out what Oak & Fiber is all about. Your time is important and I’m super grateful that your here.
My name is Ariel, pronounced R-e-elle instead of Air-e-elle, but everyone calls me Ari (R-e) for short. I’m a dreamer, total Pisces, aesthetics junkie, fantasy book lover, Sriracha addict, knitter, crocheter, yarn dyer, head in the clouds kind of person. Even though I’m the type of person who loves to try new things, especially creative things, fiber arts has always been a constant in my life. My grandma taught me to knit when I was a kid, I self taught myself to knit in my early 20s, then in 2012 I opened White Oak Knits and began knitting and crocheting items (and casually writing patterns) to sell at craft shows and on Etsy as a way to earn some extra cash. In 2019, while I was pregnant with my daughter Emie, I joined Instagram to start sharing my makes which quickly morphed into test knitting then to pattern writing which I continued into 2020. I liked pattern writing enough, but the slow pace of it didn’t always match the quickness of my ideas and I started to grow bored. I then dived into the world of yarn dyeing, fell in love, changed the name to Oak & Fiber and never looked back!! August 2022 will mark Oak & Fiber’s second birthday and I have no doubt this is what I want to continue doing as long as I can.
So enough about me, what’s Oak & Fiber?
Oak & Fiber is for all the dreamers out there. The aesthetics chasers, the planners, the makers, anyone and everyone who values the importance of slowing down and appreciating the quality and satisfaction that comes with hand making your own clothing. It might not be the flashiest yarn, I’m a neutral junkie, but so much love is poured into each and every skein. Oak & Fiber celebrates quality fibers, well thought out colors, and appreciating all the little moments in between in this fast paced world we live in.
Oak & Fiber has changed a lot through these two years, a ton of trial and error (and sometimes more downs than ups) but every success and every misstep is molding this business to where it needs to go and I’m so excited to share this journey (and a lot of pretty yarn) with you so again welcome and thank you!!
